Scylla - Demos

Ever heard of Scylla? Okay, ever heard of Curve and/or Toni Halliday? What's important is that Toni Halliday, lead singer for Curve, briefly formed another band, named Scylla, which recorded an album's worth of demos and played shows in the UK around 1995. The only thing they ever released was a song called Helen's Face which appeared on the Showgirls soundtrack of all places. It's understandable then why one wouldn't be overly familiar with Scylla, though a fellow named Bob Edwards who apparently had ties to Halliday and her husband, Alan Moulder, posted the demo album back in 2008 for all to examine.

Scylla, for the record, was a full-blown band, not a solo project for Toni. She was joined by Lindy Pocock and Fiona Lynsky on guitars, Julian Bown on drums and Ricky Barber on bass. Alan Moulder and Flood produced their rather finished sounding demos. For whatever reason, Toni decided to finish Scylla off before it had really started and went back to work with Dean Garcia on another Curve album. Rather peculiar, all things considered, but I'm sure there were good reasons beyond a Curve reunion.

This is some pretty good British goth rock stuff and definitely worth your attention if you like Curve, so visit Bob's page and check out the details. It's a little confusing as to where the download link is so I've direct linked it below, though you can always visit this page to give Bob some hits. Drop him a line and say thanks for sharing!

PS - If the album does go offline I'll reupload it myself, but while Bob's links are live I'd prefer that the traffic go his way. After all, he did plenty of work setting things up all on his own.
