"CHEZ MOI"

I am still in my tiny little 'studio' in the attic of a XVIII century building, waiting to move to a vacant and bigger floor underneath ... In the meanwhile I visit the fleamarket, 'hunting' for opportunities ... Last saturday I found this 'Seize' mirror ...

Ladies, get Tattooed the right way

Photobucket
Tattoos are getting hotter as time goes by and the Ladies are doing their best to get unique looking, huge size tattoos which make them be more noticeable than someone having a tiny tattoo next to their private parts. I believe Tattoos are meant to be displayed at all times and not to be kept covered like if it was an embarrasment (if it is a messed up work then it should be covered at all times till is fixed). Remember to be creative when choosing a design and use it to get inspired and create something unique.

Prison Tattoos

Photobucket
Tattoos have continued to fascinate the world for centuries. Not only do they showcase the skill and dexterity of the tattoo artist, they also provide a lot of insight into the character and personality of the person who created or chose the design which is the person who has the tattoo. Here is an interesting collection of tattoos for you to check out.
The most interesting thing about this collection of tattoos is that they are all prison tattoos. One of the other interesting things about this collection is that is features quite a few elderly men, giving you a peek into a world not explored efore. Another interesting thing in this collection is that it features a number of tattoos depicting dates and messages. These being prison tattoos, no doubt the dates depict the term of imprisonment. Liberty and love seem to be prominent themes for obvious reasons.

Tribal Tattoo Then and Now

Photobucket
Tribal tattoos have been used by different cultures for hundreds of years as marks that show the affiliation of people within a particular culture or society. Some people who belonged to a tribe received a mark implanted in their skin that showed they belonged to that particular clan. Some of these marks were very small while other marks were large and clearly visible. The people in a particular area, usually geographical, would immediately identify others by the different types of tribal tattoos. There are still some tribal tattoos that are used for these reasons, but in most cases these days, people with tribal tattoos choose them for the beauty and variety of the designs.
Tattoos have become very popular in recent years, and tribal tattoos are some of the most popular available. Some of the tattoos used for cosmetic purposes could be authentic marks of identification that the tattoo artist borrowed from another culture. Other tattoos are identified with this group because they resemble the traditional tattoos that have been actually used by tribes around the world. Some tattoos, for example, are similar in look to those from tribes in places like Samoa.
These specific tribal tattoos are very distinctive images compared with other tattoos that are currently available. Tribal tattoos are the "in" thing Tribal tattoos are possibly one of the most sought after tattoo designs and the most popular are based on the Maori, Haida, Polynesian and Native American designs. Of course the term tribal has so many different meanings and an almost limitless amount of variations and combinations. The true meaning of today's tribal tattoo lies in the unique allure it has to the individual. People choose these different tribal tattoos currently because the designs are merely pleasing to the eye. In most parts of the world tribal tattoos have no relationship to the identity of the person wearing the tattoo. Some very famous people have contributed to the popularity of tribal tattoos. These tattoos have appeared on backs and arms of some very famous celebrities that have shown them off when appearing in public, creating a demand for tribal-like tattoos from regular folk. The popularity of tribal tattoos has also led to global competition amongst tattoo artists.
Many come up with unique designs by making use of images based on the tribal tattoos that have appeared in pictures or drawings from the tribal people who originally wore these marks on their bodies. There are some skilful tattoo artists who have even become known for the beauty of their tribal designs and most own copyright to these so others cannot use the tattoos without permission. Many of the tattoos are isolated images on the chest or shoulder, but others can cover an entire arm or back. There are tribal tattoos that are in simple black, but others incorporate some color into the design. And what with so many variations to choose from, having a tribal tattoo etched into your skin can be one of the most unique choices you can make.

Mini Countryman WRC

Today has certainly been the day for new World Rally Championship cars. Not only were the Citroen DS3 WRC and Ford Fiesta RS WRC unveiled, but also the Mini Countryman WRC got its debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The car has been developed in partnership with Prodrive, no strangers to WRC success. Like the DS3 and Fiesta, Mini’s entry uses a 1.6 turbocharged engine, in accordance with the new FIA regulations for 2011. Developed by BMW Motorsport, it will transmit its power via an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox.

Mini has confirmed that it’ll be entering six out of the thirteen scheduled WRC rounds in 2011, before going on to campaign the full season in 2012. Prodrive will also be building customer cars for independent teams to use.

As expected, Kris Meeke has been named as the first driver who will compete for Prodrive in the Mini Countryman WRC. Meeke, from Northern Ireland, is the current Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion. It’s rumoured that he could be joined at Mini by two-time WRC champion Marcus Grönholm.

Citroën DS3 WRC 2011

Hot on the heels of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC, Citroën has also today unveiled its 2011 World Rally Championship contender.

The DS3 WRC will have a huge reputation to live up to, seeing as its Xsara and C4 predecessors secured six driver’s titles (all with Sébastien Loeb at the wheel, and all won over consecutive years) and five constructor’s championships. And it looks very likely that Loeb and Citroën will be accomplishing both feats again this year, too.

In developing the new car, Citroën Racing has had to comply with the new 2011 FIA WRC regulations. The biggest change is the shift from 2.0 litre to 1.6 litre turbocharged engines but, with an eye on costs, components such as semi-automatic gearboxes and centre differentials are now banned, while others have to comply with strict cost and weight criteria.

The direct injection engines used in the DS3 WRC have been tuned to produce around 295 bhp (220 kW / 300 PS) and, under the revised rules, each one will be expected to last for up to six rallies. Transmission to the all-wheel drive system is via a fully manual six-speed sequential Sadev gearbox.

Converting the bodywork of the road-going DS3 to WRC specification has involved changing the bumpers and wings in order to reach the maximum permissible width of 1,820 mm. Aerodynamic down force is taken care of by a front splitter and a substantial rear spoiler.

Meanwhile, the door glass has been replaced with polycarbonate, and the doors themselves have been filled with foam to increase side impact protection. Naturally, there’s also a hefty internal roll cage, made from 40 metres of steel tubing.

The 2011 driver line-ups for either the Citroën Total World Rally Team or the Citroën Junior Team have yet to be confirmed.

Ford Fiesta RS WRC 2011

Ford has unveiled the Fiesta RS WRC, the car that it’ll be entering in next year’s World Rally Championship. Designed to comply with new regulations that come into force in 2011, power will come from a 1.6 litre turbo engine instead of a 2.0 litre unit as used by today’s WRC cars.

Like the Focus RS WRC that it replaces, the Fiesta RS WRC has been built by Ford of Europe and its partner M-Sport, which is run by BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team director Malcolm Wilson.

The car’s EcoBoost engine, which features direct petrol injection, was also developed by Ford and M-Sport, together with some input from French tuner Pipo Moteur.

This year’s driver line-up of Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala is set to continue unchanged, and both will get an opportunity to drive the Fiesta RS WRC during its first major test session. That’s due to take place on gravel roads in Spain at the beginning of October.

My Bloody Valentine - Loom: Live In Vancouver 1992

This is an incredibly clear recording of MBV live in 1992, touring for Loveless. While the whole thing is great, the high point is the seventeen minute finale of You Made Me Realise, where the band goes into one of their legendary noise freak-outs and scares the crowd shitless. You should read Mike McGonigal's excellent contribution to the 33 1/3 series which is all about Loveless and features lots of interviews with Kevin, everyone else in the band, Guy Fixsen, other interesting folks from the Valentine's circle and a stripper who danced to Sometimes. Seriously. It's an awesome book and it talks about the mind altering experience that You Made Me Realise is live. This recording probably doesn't do it justice, but it's a great example of how unique Kevin Shields and My Bloody Valentine are live.

Tune in tomorrow for post number three, the contents of which should keep everyone entertained for the weekend!

Aston Martin is coolest

For the fourth time in five years, Aston Martin has been named the UK’s coolest brand in the CoolBrands survey. The 2010/11 poll, which sought the opinions of members of the public as well as a panel of experts, placed the British car maker ahead of brands such as BlackBerry, Google and Dom Perignon.

The other automotive companies that made it into the top twenty were Harley-Davidson (6th), Ferrari (9th) and Mini (16th).

Speaking of the award, Aston Martin CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez said, “Once you can define precisely why a brand is cool, then it no longer has the magic that earns it that label. There has to be an element of mystique, something that eludes definition. In order for a brand to have that quality, it needs people behind it with a passionate, creative vision who care for and nurture it.”

Quite right too. Let’s see if Aston Martin can retain the title after the Cygnet arrives.

kind, Tape-Toons, Will Sessions and other awesome stuff!

Before I get back to the MBV posts (of which there are two more) I wanted to share some info about some things coming up and some recent releases.

kind are going to be performing live on October 23rd at Akron's Musica with Full Wave Rectifier so make sure you go! It's gonna be Full Wave Rectifer's last show and I'm so bummed! I just found out about them and then they've gotta break up? WAHHHHH!!! Still though, they rock and I'm sure everyone will continue to rock in their own fashion. kind ain't going anywhere though, they're still working on new songs and getting them recorded. Hopefully there will be some new music soon from them! But in the meantime, get yourself to Musica so you can give a warm finale to Full Wave Rectifier and let them and kind rock your worlds!

I'm going to be posting a full review for a band that's local to me named Tape-Toons in the near future. They're from the Kent, Ohio area and just pressed up CDs of their debut album, Gravel Love, and it's really, REALLY good! Because I'm going to be doing a full review of their CD and talking with them for a post I'm not gonna say much here, but you can check out their song, Mice In The Walls, via the link below. They'll have a video for it online soon which is being done by my buddy, Bobby Makar, who did the logo for us here at The Unheard Music. In regards to their sound, it's bluesy but noisy and a little out there. Very cool guys and very cool music! You can check out their MySpace and Facebook pages for more details..

Tape-Toons - Mice In The Walls

I just got to hear the new Will Sessions EP, Kindred, the other day and it's damn smooth. Will Sessions is the brainchild of Sam Beaubien who plays trumpet and keyboards and does arrangements. The new EP is a tribute to the pioneers of jazz fusion (actually the EP's proper title is Kindred: A Tribute To The Pioneers Of Jazz Fusion) and it does it's job really well. The pieces on the EP are full compositions so don't expect Will Sessions to get wild like mid-seventies Miles Davis but the record is so full of soul and the performances lively. Sam's trumpet really reminds me of Miles' seventies space funk and if that gets your interest you'll love the record. It's coming out on The Few Records and being distributed by Community Projects, a subsidiary of Carl Craig's Planet E Records. I've got a track below for you to check out from the record and it's hot! Make sure you get the EP when it drops and I'll have more info as to where you can get it ASAP.

Will Sessions - Polyester People

There have been a lot of really high profile releases this week and I wanted to remind folks of a few of them.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' score for The Social Network is out digitally as of yesterday and you can pre-order physical copies right now via Trent's Null Corporation label. As of right now you can get the album as high quality MP3s for $2.99 from Amazon but you can get lossless formats as of tomorrow from the Null Corp. site. On top of that, if you order the physical release you'll get an immediate download of the album in lossless, MP3 or a variety of formats. The soundtrack is excellent and it makes me think Trent should have done the new Tron movie instead of Daft Punk. He and Atticus clearly have a Wendy Carlos influence in their sound. Going to see the movie on Friday too. Hope it's great!

Schematic's StiLL iLL is now available via Amazon digital and iTunes! GET IT NOW!

If you pre-ordered the new Sufjan Stevens before, I believe last Friday, you should have received a free download in lossless, MP3 or just about any other format you could want of the full album, The Age Of Adz, and man is it incredible! Electronics play a more significant role throughout the album and might be a little surprising for those not expecting that sound, but the songs are as wonderful as ever and everyone should be pleased. The album will receive a normal physical and digital release on October 12th. You can still pre-order it but you'll have to wait until then for your download. If you can't wait though, you can stream the whole album over at NPR.

Neil Young's Le Noise is out and it's awesome! Get it on iTunes, Amazon digital, or at your favorite shop where you buy CDs. This is definitely his best album in years!

And just in case you missed it, No Age's Everything In Between came out last Tuesday. It's awesome and you can get it digitally or physically via your favorite shops. The vinyl version comes with a huge booklet of photos, lyrics and other imagery. It's a really beautiful release and totally worth it if you wanna spend a few extra dollars.

And on a few other notes...

Got my copy of The State's Comedy For Gracious Living yesterday, and it has the most absurd CD packaging I've ever seen. The liner notes fold out so you can compare your height with that of the individual members of The State. Totally insane! I don't know how many copies are left, but I heard that about two thousand were made available so you should head on over to Rhino Handmade quick if you want to purchase one. It's totally worth it!

Soctt Pilgrim vs. The World gets a DVD/Blu-Ray release on November 7th! I hate to say it but I may end up buying a Blu-Ray player for all the incredible bonus features. It's gonna be so SWEET!!!!!

On a side note, Cee-Lo Green's new album, The Lady Killer, got moved up for release also on November 7th! That album is gonna be sweet!

I'll be back tomorrow with my second My Bloody Valentine post, and yes, I will include We Have All The Time In The World in that or the third post. Also, I'm planning my Christmas/holiday/whateveryouwannacallit gift and was wondering if anyone out there might want to assist me. The big thing at this point is I'd like some help with the art. If you are an artist and might like to help me with a reinterpretation of something, please drop me a line and we can chat about it. I'll be asking for some more assistance as we get closer to December, but it's mostly going to be so I can have some help distributing it.

Take care everyone and see you all tomorrow!

PS - This was the most difficult post I've done in forever. Way too difficult to get all these images to work right! Hell, The State pic is frickin' sideways! WTF?
