Just want to share my experience at the airport with visa valid till Oct'09 and I-797 valid till May'11 from different employer. Officer looked at my visa and asked me when are you planning to get visa stamped based on new I-797 and I replied that when I go out of country next time. He granted me I-94 valid based on I-797 date. Very smooth.

Would taking a picture using a digital camera at home and print them out ourselves help....not trying to be greedy but trying to get good quality pictures compared to crappy CVS/Walgreens/Costco/etc. picutres....what do u think guys?

I agree that capitalism is the first american value..... and IMHO it is the only one that works........ Look at France and the old European countries vs the new EU countries that were part of the Warsaw pact who adopted complete capitalism instead of the hybrid capitalism/socialism........

I can bet that if USCIS came up with a plan where they would adjudicate labor, I140 and 485 in one month guaranteed for a premium fee of say 50k, most employers would come up with a way to pay the same and recoup part of it from the employee. Those on an H1 working for consulting companies where they pretty much work for a percentage of the billing would take a loan, max their cards out and do it.

Hello friends,
This may sound silly but I could really use some help here. My case has been current for a while now and its not been approved yet. Calling USCIS is no use since the Cust Serv Rep literally tell you the exact same words that are in the online status. I've been doing Infopass every week now for the past month. Last week they said that the case has been assigned to an officer. I'm going to Mumbai on Feb 3rd and was hoping that my case would be processed before then. Any ideas to get that file picked up by the officer?

The old lawyer has to notify USCIS that he is pulling out of your case or the new lawyer has to send the new G-28.

What if he/she chose not to let USCIS know about it? Basically, you have no options than to hire a new lawyer to file G-28; otherwise USCIS will continue to send correspondence to the lawyer on file. If you don't file new G-28, the old lawyer can get every information on file from USCIS. Read G-28 for more information.
You are required to send the letter to where your case is filed.

There is no drives even in a 1000 mile radius from where I live, hope this guy gets what he wants, looks like this guy has lots of support, lots of money. Can we do the same for all such people in India, there are probably hundreds of thousands of people in India who are in this situation who have no help like this guy. We should take our mind away from DOS and USCIS for a while and do some better things like this.

the reason you wont get anywhere in terms of answers in a public forum is because you have not provided us with any relevant information. which forms were filed by your grandfather...which category was it filed under.
did your grandfather not file form I-765? that is an employment authorization document...giving your mom unrestricted permission to work.

Google search on Portability with I-140 in "Approvable" condition.
That is your solution, incase you have to change employers before I-140 and 485 are approved, with 180 days passed.

How can one expect a sane professional being stuck with the same job description for 5-10-15 years with little or no pay increase?

For Christ sake...the PD's are stuck in Windows 2000 era (even Windows 98 era). We have had XP, Vista and now Windows 7 and we are expected to work on Windows 98?
So in case of an RFE, do we plead saying Windows 98/Windows 2000 are obselete no sensible (profitable) business uses it and I have to work on Windows Vista?

In brief, I have applied for I-485 when I was single and now priority dates are current. I need to add my spouse. Do I need to apply for I-485 for myself again? Below are the timelines.

4. Schedule A expired.

In June 2007
1.Employer B (Moved in June 2007 via H1b transfer).

My wife (going to use AP), My little son (US citizen) & my mother-in-law (Visitor Visa) are coming back to Dallas from India on Monday. My mother-in-law left USA in November 2008 and coming back again now. Would it be safe to send all three of them to the same counter at the POE? or would it be safe to send them to 2 separate counters.
My worry is that if they go together, the officer may think that my mother-in-law is here again for baby sitting or something like that since her leaving USA is less than 6 months. I know that there is no such requirement that a person has to be outside US for a certain period of time before entering again, but I am still wondering would it cause any problems. On the flip side if they go to different counters they may let her in without any issues, since my mother-in-law doesn't know English (I am planning to give a letter for the purpose of her trip), Please suggest?

IMHO, I don't think it matters. In the end, it is the IO's decision. There are no guarantees either way, and similarly there should not be an issue either way. Personally, I would want all three to be standing at one counter than at different counters.
