Swimsuit - Swimsuit LP

And when I thought that it can't get any better it does. This morning I discovered one of those rare musical gems that you can listen to over and over again. It got me by surprise but I instantly got hooked to it. It's the kind of thing that makes my day. Anyway I got an email from Blair Amberly of the Charlottesville, VA-based indie label Speakertree Records about the upcoming Swimsuit self-titled debut album due to be released on the 28th of June.
Swimsuit is this wonderful four-piece indie-pop/post-punk band from Ypsilanti, MI, that combines catchy indie-pop tunes fused with some really wonderful vocals and all that engulfed by surf-driven melodies. Although predominantly surf-inspired there can felt a slight nod to punk in their music. The male and female vocals blend perfectly with the melodic guitar riffs into a piece of music that can easily be part of you summer soundtrack. Swimsuit's brand of upbeat music is a sweet reminder of the hot, summer days and breezy beach nights. If you get the album which I recommend, you'll find ten excellent songs that are sure to get you in the right mood for the summer. If you like their music I'll encourage you to download for free the two songs kindly provided by Blair Amberly, "Mongoose" and "Sunlight", two great tracks that will make you wanna get your surfboard and catch every possible wave. It's that kind of music that brightens my mood for days to come.

И точно когато си мислех, че не може да стане по-хубаво от това, то взе, че стана. Тази сутрин открих една от онези редки музикални находкки, които можеш да слушаш неспирно по цял ден. Хвана ме неподготвен и веднага се зарибих по нея. Това е от нещата, които могат да ми оправят дена. Както и да е, тази сутрин докато си проверявах имейлите, видях че имам един от Blair Amberly от малкият, независим американски лейбъл Speakertree Records, в който той ми обясняваше за предстоящия дебютен албум на една никому неизвестна, но адски приятна група, наречена Swimsuit.
Swimsuit е тази тази прекрасна четиричленна индие-поп/пост-пънк банда от Ипсиланти, Мичиган, която успешно комбинира приятни инди-поп песни, смесени с наистина добри вокали и всичко това погълнато от сърф подплатени мелодии. Въпреки, че е вдъхновена от сърфа, в музиката им се забелязва едвам доловимо намигане към пънка. Вокалите перфектно се смесват с мелодичните китарни рифове в нещо, което може спокойно да се превърне в част от летният ви саундтрак. Веселата музика на Swimsuit е приятно напомняне за горещите летни дни и прохладните плажни вечери. Ако си всемете албума, което ви препоръчвам, ще намерите десет чудесни песни, които ще ви донесат точното слънчево настроение за лятото. Ако ви е харесала музиката им, ще ви окуража да си свалите напълно безплатно и двете песни, които ми бяха любезно предоставени за разпространение, "Mongoose" и "Sunlight", два прекрасни трака, от които ще ви се прииска да си вземете сърфа и да хванете всички възможни вълни. Това от типа музика, която е способна да ми оправи настроението за доста дълго време.

Gross Magic - "Sweetest Touch"

Now here's a song that for some reason reminds me of the 90's with it's raw and unpolished sound. It's like Beck meets Nirvana both in their prime years."Sweetest Touch" is actually very good lo-fi indie-pop song with some obvious grunge influences and haunting poppy vocals that is rather catchy. Other noticeable thing is the decision to go for a Ariel Pink kind of production which is to say cheap otherwise known as lo-fi. Well there's charm in that. This Brighton chap sure knows how to get noticed with his music which by the way is good.

Ето една песен, която по някаква причина ми напомня за '90-те с нейният суров и неподправен звук. Чисто музикално тя ми напомня на нещо средно между Бек и Нирвана в ранните им години. Иначе "Sweetest Touch" е доста добра lo-fi инди-поп песен с очевидни гръндж влияния и натрапчиви поп вокали, която е дори приятна. Друго не по-малко интересно нещо е начина, по който песента е реализирана, а именно издадена е в един доста първичен вид, без допълнителна обработка и мастериране, в което също има чар. Определено този младеж от Брайтън знае как да бъде забелязан чрез музиката си, която според мен е добра.

Well today I accidentally stumbled upon a song which reminded me of the above few lines from Supergrass' "Alright". The song in question is "Days Of Youth" and it brought memories of summer and careless days. To be honest the whole demo which you can hear below is filled with the essence if youth and the feeling of freedom. These lads from England make music that fuses catchy pop tunes with some surf vibes and all that is complemented with some really good lo-fi post-rock noises. This is the kind of music that will make your summer experience well worth it.

Днес случайно попаднах на песен, която ми напомни за горните редове от песента на Supergrass "Alright". Въпросната песен е "Days Of Youth" и докато я слушах, в главата ми изплуваха спомени за лятото и безгрижните дни. Честно казано, струва ми се, че цялото демо, което можеш да чуеш по-долу, е пропито от духа на младостта и от чувство за свобода. Тези момчета от Англия правят доста приятна смесица от поп музика със сърф настроение и всичко това допълнено с доста добри lo-fi пост-рок звуци. Това е вида музика, който ще направи лятото ви незабравимо.

Wolf Feet

Here's one interesting English indie-pop/folk band that willingly or not sound kinda like The Drums minus the whole surf thing plus some synth elements. It sounds joyful and moments later it gets melancholy. There's like a very faint trace of The Smiths or The Pixies in Wolf Feet's music. Either way the band carved a very unique sound that one can hardly hear nowadays. And somehow I like it.

Ето еднa доста интересна инди-поп/фолк банда, която звучи доста като The Drums, но без сърфистките настроения, но със синт елементи. Звучи едновременно жизнерадостно и меланхолично и като че ли има едвам доловима следа от The Smiths или The Pixies в музиката на Wolf Feet. Бандата си е изградила един доста уникален звук, който трудно ще чуеш в днешно време. И някак си този звук ми харесва.

Morrissey - People Are The Same Everywhere/Action Is My Middle Name/The Kids A Looker

Morrissey, this wonderful rebellious child of Mother Brittania is one restless spirit. To prove that he recorded a brand new yet untitled album, tenth in his solo career and performed three new track off that album which were broadcasted on BBC Radio 2. Now judging from what I've heard, Morrissey has not lost his songwriting and performing abilities and once more delivered some really astonishing songs. But then again this is Morrissey, no one expects by less from him. The guy's simply great. I can only imagine how good would his new album be. Well here's a glimpse of what's to come. Below's three songs recorded live at Maida Vale on the 10th of June for BBC. I think they're absolutely brilliant. Hopefully they won't be the last to hear from Morrissey.

Morrissey, този лиричен и непокорен син на Майка Британия е както винаги неподатлив на времената и нравите. Доказва го с чисто новите песни, които наскоро пусна в нета и които можеш да чуеш по-долу. Освен това Morrissey има записан изцяло нов материал под формата на албум, десети пореден за който все още няма издател, поне според думите на самия артист. Затова колко добри са новите му парчета можеш да се убедиш и сам, като преслушат тези постнати по-долу. Записани са на живо и излъчени на 10-ти Юни по радио BBC Radio 2. Да се надяваме, че това няма да е последното, което ще чуем от Morrissey.

The Volcano

The Volcano, another cool band from Gothenburg, Sweden. They sound kinda retro, kinda garage and all the way awesome. I've always had a soft spot for female-fronted bands and this one is no exception. It appears that they have released three-song EP which I'm already liking. I recommend "All My Friends Are On Pills" as it's damn good song.

The Volcano, поредната адски готина инди/пънк-рок банда от Швеция. Звучат малко ретро, малко garage, но така или иначе жестоко. По принцип винаги съм харесвал оглавяваните от жени групи и тази не е изключение. От малкото инфо което намерих за тях, илиза че имат издадено едно едноименно EP, което можеш да чуеш по-долу. Препоръчвам за слушане "All My Friends Are On Pills". Жестока песен, която ското едва ли ще ми омръзне.

I Break Horses – "Hearts" (official video)

You know how much I like Scandinavian music, right? Well once again I'm gonna please you with another one from Sweden. Here it is the new video for Swedish indie-pop/shoegaze duo I Break Horses for their song "Hearts" from their debut album which will be released later this summer. Upon first hearing I gotta admit that there's a clear shoegaze feel about it which kinda reminds me of My Bloody Valentine and the likes. Yet it's Swedish so expect it to be a little different.

Знаете колко много обичам скандинавска музика, нали? Ами ще ви зарадвам с поредната такава, идваща от Швеция. Става дума за шведското indie-pop/shoegaze дуо от Швеция I Break Horses и новото им видео към песента "Hearts". Първоначалното ми мнение, когато чух песента беше, че тя носи характерното shoegaze усещане в себе си подобно на My Bloody Valentine. Да ама бидейки шведско творение, все пак си има и някои различия. Но нали това му е хубавото на шведската музика и на скандинавската като цяло - никога не е точно както си я представяш.

Despite the odd name Seapony is one really charming american indie-pop band incorporating some surf-pop elements.
