Das Racist
DAS IST HIP-HOP. DAS IST GUT.
Wait what? Hip-Hop?!? You high bro or what?
...Nah. This is what you get when you combine smart and funny rhymes with unconventional beats. The end result is this LUDICROUS hip-hop thing called Das Racist. Asian, Middle-Eastern and Latino flavored hip-hop with a twist for the appreciative few. Hip-hip misfits that simply refuse to be stereotyped.
This trio chose one very unusual name for themselves, that's for sure. The only racist thing about Das Racist is that they sing about brown people. Seriously, there's nothing racist about this colored bunch of nasciremas that sing about White Castle burgers and Pizza Hut/Taco Bell combinations. Add to that some old-school flava and you get the hard-to-swallow lyrical food that is Das Racist.
Das Racist are beyond good. This Brooklyn-based trio consisting of Himanshu Suri, Victor Vazquez and Ashok Kondabolu is not your usual Eminem/50cent shit. They're more like The Cool Kids and like them their sound is diverse, their lyrics touch on a number of subjects, not that all are that relevant. Still this ethnically diverse band manages to deliver a fresh dose of witty and colorful hip-hop one that is reserved only for the chosen ones with a slightly different taste in music. If you're a fan of alternative hip-hop acts like The Cool Kids, M.I.A. or Rye Rye then that's the stuff for you. Otherwise skip it. Damn, Brooklyn breeds freshness!
