This week in 1908, 1945

Every weekend Just One Bad Century goes back in time to the last season the Cubs won the pennant and the last season they won the World Series.

This week in 1908
, the Cubs open the season in Cincinnati, and witness a Reds player spitting on and getting into a fistfight with his own fans, while in Vienna a 19 year old kid (named Adolf something or other) gets rejected for art school, and doesn't take it very well.

This week in 1945, the Allies launch an air campaign against Germany and liberate the Buchenwald concentration camp, E.B White releases the book "Stuart Little," and the Cubs play their final spring training game and head to Chicago for opening day
