Резервен план+Bright Sight+F.A.Y.D.

29.04.11 Резервен план+Bright Sight+F.A.Y.D.@The Box
It's Friday again and what that means is that it's time for concerts. Actually that is all day, everyday but that's another topic. Anyways tonight I had the pleasure to attend one very good hardcore/punk concert with the sofiotes F.A.Y.D. and Bright Side and the Plovdiv sXe band Резервен план (or Back-Up Plan for the anglo-saxons). First on stage were F.A.Y.D. The youngsters showed that with every concert they get more and more confident onstage. Their old-school hardcore was the catalyst that set the the tone for the rest of the night. People started moshing with the very first accord. F.A.Y.D. played most of the songs they're best known for such as "Homo Hominis Lupus Est", "Деца Без Занимание" (Kids Without Occupation), "Отрова" (Poison), "You're All The Same" (Ceremony Cover), "Единствен Победител" (Sole Winner), "Поредният Ден" (The Consecutive Day) and a few others. In overall strong set.

Next came Bright Sight, melodic punk (or whatever they like to call themselves) influenced more or less by bands such as Millencolin and Bad Religion. The band's brand of fast punk seemed less heavy compared to the previous act, F.A.Y.D. with it's raw sound. They started with "Безличен Живот" followed by few more songs in the same manner like "Кухненски Робот" which did not appeal much to me but it got better once they performed their renditions of Bad Religion's "American Jesus" and later H2O's "1995". They ended their set with "2012". Second time seeing them. Wasn't that bad.

Last on stage came Резервен план. The band delivered a set full of fast aggressive, in-your-face sXe hardcore which made the crowd go crazy. "Всички Мостове Горят", "Вяра", "Мъртви Поети" were just few of the songs they played tonight plus covers of H2O ("Nothing To Prove") and Warzone (I might be missing something) let to couple of stagedivings, brutal moshpit and lots of sing-a-longs. The best band for the night and one of the best sXe hc bands we got here. I definitely got huge respect for Резервен план and their lead singer Missues but he tend to repeat often one thing as he did tonight that I strongly disagree with. Basically he says that it's stupid to "support" the scene by going to concerts by bands you do not like and that is better to have few but "true" people that attend shows by their favorite bands. Well xMISSUESx if you ever stumble upon my blog know this: I DO NO AGREE. You see brother, you speak wisely and in most cases I agree with you but not on this one. Because if it happens as you suggest then we'll have like two or three bands that will fill up the clubs and the rest will play in front of no more than a dozen people. I saw that once with a band I like very much, Pizza, when they played last year in May at the old The Box. I don't think such thinking is respectful towards the bands. No matter how much you talk about Plovdiv hardcore the truth is that our scene is way too small for such segregation. There's no room for 02Hardcore, 032Hardcore or 052Hardcore, there can be only 359Hardcore. If we do separate ourselves from each other than how we're supposed to achieve the "unity" that is so popular among hardcore kids? If we start supporting only those bands we like than most hardcore bands will simple seize to exist. By attending concerts with bands you might not necessary like you show that you care about a scene that is alive only thanks to all the people that are going to concerts, buying merch and downloading music. By going to such concert you make sure that this "scene" will last little bit longer. By doing so we can hope to have a real scene with more than six to ten bands. Attending concerts motivates musicians to keep doing what they do no matter how difficult it is and ignites the spark in the future generations to do something by themselves. It's simple as that. Attending IS supporting no matter what. There's no in-between. Everything else is just excuses and shows complete lack of interest towards our beloved scene. You see brother, if it was as you say then I would never have seen your band and yet I decided to give it a chance and I do not regret for doing so. I'm quite happy that there's a band like yours although I wish there would have been more bands like Резервен план or Start Today (R.I.P.). That's what I had in mind, brother. I like you but I simply disagree with you on this occasion. And I'm not afraid to tell you that in the eyes. Thought you should know it. Peace.
