WTF??? Rosebud wants you to Have A Cigar
I had an awesome day all things considered! Went to work, got done early, got paid really early, picked up some new vinyl (PiL reissues on 4 Men With Beards and Rhino), was on the radio for a minute (Comedy By Request on XM Raw Dog) and then found a piece of utter weirdness. I noticed what looked like a late seventies Warner Bros. disco 12" by a "group" named Rosebud with a song named Have A Cigar on the A-Side. I figured there was no way that it could have been Pink Floyd's Have A Cigar, but upon seeing the song was credited to Waters I assumed I could be wrong. Just to confirm, I flipped the record over to find the B-Side was labeled Money, also credited to Waters. I had just found an obscure disco 12" of Pink Floyd covers. WHAT THE FUCK?
When I returned home I did a quick google search and found a page for Bill DeYoung who wrote the liner notes to a 2008 CD reissue of Rosebud's full-length album, Discoballs - A Tribute To Pink Floyd. Turns out a fellow named Gabriel Yared, now much better known for his award winning score for The English Patient among other films (Madonna's bomb, The Next Best Thing, is one of those other films), was the force behind the project, producing and arranging the bizarro Pink Floyd disco covers with a cast of session musicians backing him up. Officially, the production credit went to a team known as ARENA, but ARENA may have been no more than the financiers.
What really matters when it comes to novelty records like this one is how it sounds, and having not heard the whole album I can now assume that it's less than essential, but might be interesting for a few laughs. The version of Have A Cigar, listed as a Special Disco Mix by Michael Graber, is boring as hell, with the unidentified female vocalist merely repeating the first line of the song over and over. The version of Money fares quite a bit better though, with the first two verses sang completely, curse intact! The verses get repeated once, but it's not so annoying since the track continues to weird-out throughout it's four minutes. If there is a winner here, Money is where it's at.
I linked the page with Bill DeYoung's liner notes for Rosebud's Discoballs reissue above, but you can access it here too. As for sharing my musical find, you can download my rip of this ridiculous platter of wax below, but if you want to test your mettle with the full-length Discoballs, you'll have to look elsewhere. It was apparently available via Collector's Choice in 2008, but I don't know about it's current status.

Audi R8 Other technical details
The R8, like most mid- or rear-engine designed sports cars, utilises wider roadwheels and tyres on its rear axle. For the 18 inch alloy wheels (on standard summer tyres), there is just one range of sizes - the fronts are sized at 8.5Jx18H2 ET42, whilst the rears are two inches wider at 10.5Jx18H2 ET50. With the 19 inch wheels (standard fit in most markets), the theme continues - the fronts are

Falcon 50th anniversary
June marks fifty years since production of the Falcon began, and to celebrate Ford Australia has announced a range of anniversary models.
Available across both saloon and Ute body styles, the six variants on offer are based on the G6E, G6E Turbo, Falcon XR6, Falcon XR6 Turbo, Falcon XR6 Ute and Falcon XR6 Turbo Ute. Conspicuous by its absence is an anniversary edition of the range-topping XR8, with its 389 bhp V8 engine.
G Series 50th Anniversary models feature ‘Medium Stealth’ (whatever that means) accents on its front grilles and rear bumper insert, while the fog lamp bezels and 19” 10-spoke alloy wheels benefit from ‘Light Stealth’ accents. On the inside, there’s new leather seat upholstery with embroidered ‘50th Anniversary’ logos, a 50th Anniversary badge, carpet floor mats, special interior trim and a satellite navigation system.
All Falcon XR 50th Anniversary models get ‘Dark Stealth’ accents on the grilles, fog lamp bezels and rear bumper insert, along with ‘Medium Stealth’ accents on the 18” alloy wheels (19” on the XR6 Turbo). Also included in the specification are high series side mirrors with integrated indicators and G6-type tail lights.
It’ll be hard to not notice the XR6 anniversary models, as there’s XR50 badging, XR50 body stripes and a ‘50th Anniversary’ fender feature on the outside. Meanwhile, the theme continues on the interior with an embroidered XR50 logo on the seats, XR50 carpet mats and door scuff plates, and ‘50th Anniversary’ graphics on the instrument cluster.
As well as special interior trim, dual zone climate control, a premium audio system and a sports leather steering wheel, the Falcon XR6 50th Anniversary models also feature new partial leather for the seats. The Falcon XR6 Turbo 50th Anniversary additionally receives new leather-detailed seat trim and a reverse sensing system.
The anniversary models are launched at a time when the future of the Falcon as a distinct Australian product is in doubt. Already Ford has confirmed that the Falcon Wagon will be discontinued after June, its role assumed by the Mondeo Wagon and Falcon-based Territory SUV. The ‘One Ford’ plan, which puts a global focus on the product range, may mean the Falcon is eventually replaced by a version of the North American Taurus.

Sons Of Sylvia - You already know them! (Video)
When the band "Sons Of Sylvia" took the stage on last nights "American Idol" I knew they looked familiar. All it took was seeing the way the mandolin player stood while he played.
Where had I seen this group before?
Then it hit me. These guys are the "Clark Brothers" from the Idol knockoff "Next Great American Band" broadcast in 2007. The sound was the same, their hair may be a bit shorter, but the style and sound was all there.
It seems that after the win on "American Band" they briefly signed a record deal but were later plucked by Carrie Underwood to perform on a track for her new album. Underwood later asked the brothers to front them on her 2010 road tour.
In October 2009, the brothers Ashley, Austin and Adam Clark were signed by "Interscope/19 Entertainment" for a record and management deal and emerged as "Sons of Sylvia". Yes, their mothers name is Sylvia and their father is a preacher.
Wait a minute, 19 Entertainment?
That's the big production company behind the "American Idol" franchise. Now it made sense how they ended up on Idol next to "Rascal Flatts" and "Shakira". It seems Hollywood may be a smaller world then anyone ever imagined.
Brother Austin summed it up well:
"I can't believe it's happening. It feels like a childhood dream as far as start a band, get a record out and being on tour. All of this is actually happening. I wake up every day baffled."
The brothers have a new and impressive website at "Sons Of Sylvia" and their first album "Revelation" that was just released on April 27.
The brothers may have blossomed into a hit rock band, but they will always be "The Clark Brothers" to me.

Sorry I haven't been around...
Hey guys, I just wanted to let everyone know I'm not dead. I've been really busy with work, helping a friend get ready for a wedding and I've also been a little under the weather, so I'm sorry I haven't been as attentive lately. I've got a significant stockpile of stuff to share with you all, I've just got to get some time to get it together. So don't worry, I'm not going anywhere, but it might be the first week in May before I can get another full-blown post up. Thanks for sticking with me!

PS - This is important. The Parking Lot Experiment, as I'd mentioned I wanted to recreate it this summer, is not happening, at least not this year. There might be a smaller Boom-Box Experiment in July, but I'll let you know if that happens. Sorry, but it's hard to find a location that will suit the project. Don't want it to start raining while you're sitting in the open now, do ya?
