Video - Greyson Chance Covers Michael Jackson and Releases New Album Details
Move over Justin Bieber – there’s a new kid on the block.
13-Year-Old Greyson Chance stormed the world after being discovered on YouTube playing Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” and has quickly turned into a rising star.
Of course the inevitable comparisons to Bieber are to be expected, but Greyson is a lot more “rock” with a little pop, where Bieber is nothing but “pop” and very little rock.
As it turns out, Ellen DeGeneres took young Greyson under her wing and is producing his album and managing his career after creating her “eleveneleven” record company and signing Greyson as her first artist.
Now, after his two hit singles “Waiting Outside The Lines” and “Unfriend You”, he is preparing his first full length album due this August.
As a tease, Chance released the cover art for the highly anticipated album titled “Hold On ‘Til Night”.
Greyson says it’s not just art and there is meaning to it saying,
Okay, maybe a little deep coming from the mind of a 13-year-old but we definitely get the idea.
Greyson credits Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson as his two main influences because they have amazing music and are (were) not afraid to be who they wanted to be regardless of who the world felt they should be.
In a tribute to Jackson’s two year anniversary since his tragic death, Chance covered one of his favorite Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5's song “I Wanna Be Where You Are.”

And if Greyson wasn’t busy enough, he is currently traveling around North America with his friend and tour mate Cody Simpson on their “Waiting 4 You” tour.
Greyson also has his own professional web site at Greyson-official.com and YouTube Channel that already has over 67 million views.
Keep your eye on this kid, he’s going to be a star.

“The album cover is not just about art – it’s mainly about words. Words mean everything in this world and can both help and hurt people. The words on the piano, and all over the cover, are happy words, positive words. I like to think of my music as a way to convey positive words to the entire world.”

Watch We Are The World 2010 Video
Last night during the Olympic Game Opening Ceremonies we had the opportunity to see the world premier of the new "We Are The World."A multi-national broadcast also took place at 2:00 in over 50 countries on Saturday.
The video is well done, and young pop sensation Justin Bieber had the task of starting things off by singing the first line. Other stars joined in on queue and the end result was impressive.
More than eighty-five artists lent their talent to the three-minute video including Jennifer Hudson, Nicole Scherzinger, Sugarland, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and Fergie. Josh Groban, LL Cool J, Nick Jonas, Lil Wayne, actor Jeff Bridges, bad guy Kanye West, Miley Cyrus and Haitian-American singer Wyclef Jean participated.
The video is introduced by Jamie Foxx who told viewers they can go to World25.com to purchase the iPhone version and to donate to the Haiti releif effort.

Jackson Kids To Sing At Grammy's?
There is a rumor starting to circulate that Michael Jackson's kids may make not only an appearance, but perform at this weekend Grammy Awards.Things started to heat up when American Idol's Ryan Seacrest posted to his Twitter page that MJ's kids may participate.
Seacrest said on Wednesday:
"Just talked to the executive producer of the Grammys... hearing MJ's kids may sing."
Were pretty sure he would not have said anything unless there was at least a remote chance the children would appear.
There have been rumors before about the kids making an album and/or appearing on a Jackson Family bio or televised special.
More as news comes our way…

Jackson's Dr. Murray To Be Charged With Manslaughter
Word has leaked out that Michael Jackson's personal physician will be charged with manslaughter within the next two weeks.A law enforcement employee told a reporter that Dr. Conrad Murray could be arrested as soon as next Wednesday, and that police are going to serve one more search warrant to a Los Angeles pharmacy.
The LAPD is in talks with investigators about whether they will give Murray the choice of surrendering in Los Angeles, or be arrested in Houston, where he is currently living.
Murray is suspected of facilitating Jackson's death by using the intravenous anesthetic propofol to help him sleep just hours before he died.

Michael Jackson - Dangerous Demos

Back in June, shortly after Michael's passing, I posted these "demos" along with some rough mixes from Nirvana's Nevermind album. The post focused on the supposed story of how Nevermind went to number one because of post-holiday returns to record stores. I thought it was an interesting tale and I figured I would share it with my readers, yet without notification my post disappeared with the Nirvana tracks. I never got around to doing a new post about these Dangerous recordings, but now is as good a time as any, especially after it was brought to my attention that the site got mentioned at the LA Times' blog (thanks Scott!) and I'm sure people visiting the site would like more MJ!
This collection of tracks appears to represent an early version of the Dangerous album. The backing tracks are mostly complete but Michael's vocals are clearly not final takes in all places, so while they're not all finished versions they're definitely far from demos, but I'm not going to change the title as this is what they're generally referred to as. Also, I've seen this listed as having been sourced from a test pressing of the album, although this is rather unlikely with the tracks not being finished. As I understand it, these tracks are sourced from a DAT dating back to the early nineties which would explain the minor amounts of hiss contained herein.
Michael Jackson - Dangerous Demos
NOTE: You must download both parts to get the complete album.
Part One
Part Two
Sorry guys, links expired again. On top of that, they deleted this post without notifying me, AGAIN. I'm gonna leave this one off for the time being, but it may be reposted eventually. Drop me a line if you have any questions. Thanks!
01 Jam
This doesn't seem to be different from the album version.
02 In The Closet
Princess Stephanie is not present on this version of the song, so Michael voices her parts. The lyrics aren't quite finished.
03 Remember The Time
This doesn't seem terribly different from the album version if it is at all.
04 Black Or White
Basically the released version, although the intro is a little different.
05 Who Is It
06 Give In To Me
Both of these tracks are a little longer than the released versions and the lyrics are not quite finished. Slash is not present on Give In To Me.
07 Keep The Faith
08 Gone Too Soon
Both of these tracks seem to be the same as the finished versions.
09 Dangerous
This is a significantly different version of Dangerous. The lyrics are finished but the backing track is completely different. A slightly shorter version of this track was issued in the Ultimate Collection box-set.
10 What About Us
This is an early version of Earth Song.
11 Monkey Business
This was also released in the Ultimate Collection box, although it's debatable whether it's finished or not. It sounds pretty polished but there are moments when I can't make heads or tails as to what Michael is singing about.
12 For All Time
This song has quite a bit of history behind it. Originally recorded for Thriller, it was dropped late in the runnings but revived for potential use on Dangerous. The 1982 version was released on the 25th Anniversary edition of Thriller, although this version remains unreleased. Both versions are pretty similar to each other.
13 If You Don't Love Me
14 Serious Effect
Both of these tracks were left off Dangerous for obvious reasons. If You Don't Love Me doesn't fit with the mood of the album at all, as it's a lite dance/pop song. Serious Effect, on the other hand, is a pretty decent stab at a modernized James Brown groove. It boasts a rather unexpected guest appearance by LL Cool J which is pretty awesome! We may never hear the Run-DMC collaboration meant for Bad (I don't believe it got past the demo stage on Run-DMC's part.) but this is still pretty great. LL when he still had clout!

Michael Jackson - Thriller Demos... AGAIN

It happened again! I get a really popular post and it disappears without so much as a comment from whomever is in charge of such things. It's so damn annoying! But thank goodness for Google's web cache as I've got the complete text here to be reposted. So, let's try this again!
Whether you like MJ or not, you have to recognize his contributions to pop music and the changes that came because of them. Because of this, a lot of attention has been paid to Thriller and it's success, although not much has been said about the creative process between MJ and Quincy Jones. Bruce Swedien, one of Michael's engineers who worked with him throughout his adult career, is publishing a book about Michael in the studio, but how much will be divulged is in question and, of course, it's much nicer to hear the sessions than to read about them. So, it is with great pleasure that I present a selection of demos and rough versions of songs that did and didn't make the cut from the Thriller sessions. As for details regarding the source of these recordings, unfortunately I know as much as you do. I received these from a post via Guitars 101 which contained no further details about their origins. They clearly sound like high-generation cassette dubs, but they could be from around 1999 when reissues of Michael's first four adult albums were being produced and researched or far earlier. Otherwise, the only things I've done to these files is clean up the tags and file names, so take solace in the fact that they haven't been unnecessarily altered. My only disappointment with these files, apart from the mediocre sound quality, is that MJ and Quincy's version of the Yellow Magic Orchestra's Behind The Mask is not present. Maybe it'll show up in the near future with his family and label preparing to cash in on his death, but until then we'll have to settle for the Greg Phillinganes version which is based on Michael and Quincy's work. Well, that or Eric Clapton's version. Let's pretend I didn't write that last sentence.
Michael Jackson - Thriller Demos
Sorry guys, but they took it down AGAIN. For the time being I'm going to leave the files offline, but there might be a really cool update in the near future! Stay tuned!
01 Trouble
02 Hot Street
These are clearly professionally produced recordings, but I'm assuming these versions weren't considered final. Hot Street isn't bad but both it and Trouble don't seem release ready compositions.
03 Billie Jean
This is another demo recording, although unlike the version featured on the Special Edition reissue of Thriller (not to be confused with the 25th anniversary edition, the Special Edition has bonus cuts and interviews with Quincy Jones. there are no remixes from Kanye West or anyone of the sort.), this has mostly finished lyrics and is the complete song. The synths sound a little like something Moroder would use.
04 Love Never Felt So Good
A short piano and vocal recording. Actually, this one is quite nice, but who knows if it got any further than this nice little demo.
05 Nite Line
Another rather complete demo recording, just like Trouble and Hot Street. Decent song, but it was to leave it off the album.
06 The Girl Is Mine
07 Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
More demos sessions. The Girl Is Mine is a solo demo with a string section and everything. It doesn't sound like a synthesized string section so it's odd if this was just meant to be a demo, but it's pretty short so who knows. As for Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', like Billie Jean, this is a rather complete recording. It's kinda rough and MJ doesn't sound like he's worked out his performance yet, but the basic idea is all here including the mama-say-mama-saa-mamoko-sa thing at the end.
08 Thriller (Starlight Session Excerpt)
09 Baby Be Mine (Session Excerpt)
10 Billie Jean (Session Excerpt)
11 Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' (Session Excerpt)
12 Hot Street (Session Excerpt)
13 P.Y.T. (Instrumental Excerpt)
These recordings all appear to be excerpts of sessions with Michael singing over what seems to be finished tracks. The vocals are definitely not finished, and in several places you'll notice different lyrics. This is most notable on Thriller which features the original chorus when the song was known as Starlight. How I wish the full versions of these recordings were out there! Again, they may show up sometime in the near future as there will be a lot of archival research in the very near future, if it hasn't already begun.
14 Groove Of Midnight
Apparently this song was recorded by Siedah Garrett. This doesn't sound like a demo let alone a complete song. This sounds more like Michael messing around while waiting for the tape to be restarted. Whatever it is, it's not much and is more confusing than enlightening.
15 Carousel (Complete Version)
This song almost made the album, but was replaced by Human Nature. Michael Sembello is one of the co-writers. Nice enough track, definitely b-side or compilation worthy.
16 There Must Be More To Life Than This
This track originally listed Freddie Mercury as a co-performer, but he is clearly not here. Just a very polished performance of Michael singing this fine number.
17 Trouble (Alternate Source)
18 Hot Street (Alternate Source)
19 Nite Line (Alternate Source)
There is nothing different between these tracks and the other versions contained here other than someone cleaned up the audio a little bit. If they didn't sound a little better I wouldn't have bothered posting them, but I'm not promising any real clarity here.

INTERLUDE

So I was going to do a post on Cibo Matto, and I may still do just that, although it's going to have to wait a short while. I thought I had an arsenal of rare Cibo Matto stuff but I've found that the majority of it is readily available. Actually, if you're not familiar with Cibo, you should do yourself a favor and get their first album, VIVA! La Woman!, or the Pom Pom compilation on Rhino. That Pom Pom comp is nice as it has some rare tracks and lots of stuff from both of their full-lengths, but it has eight of the ten songs on VIVA and while that's most of the album, it's missing the track Theme. Man, that track is an ambient love-fest and should not be missed. I recall lots of fun with an ex whenever that track came on in mixtapes and such. What the hell, I'll put that track in this post, but a more detailed Cibo Matto post may be in your future.
As for the remainder of this interlude, I was rather upset to see that my Michael Jackson/Nirvana post was removed in it's entirety and I wasn't notified in any way that it happened. In the wake of Michael's death, I'm not completely surprised at it's disappearance, but I didn't say anything negative about him and I wasn't trying to benefit financially from his passing. Hell, I keep this blog ad-free because I don't think it's right to profit from things the artist may not have wanted released but found their way to the public regardless. So, I would have gladly removed the post if asked to do so, but when I don't even get a bullshit letter from the DMCA saying I pissed them off, I just see the post removed, that really boils my blood. So, if anyone is looking for the Michael Jackson Dangerous Demos, I'm not going to post the links here but, if you're resourceful, I'm sure you'll find them. They're in the same place they were earlier, just not visible from this site. And to whomever is going after people like myself for posting some interesting Jackson-related stuff for the public to enjoy, why don't you go after the people selling bootleg T-Shirts memorializing his death or the people trying to scalp tickets to the service at the Staples Center. I will respect your copyright if you've got an issue with what I'm doing, but send me an e-mail. Hell, I would have been less angry if I'd gotten a message from the DMCA or Blogger directly, but just doing this without telling me is WRONG. No ifs, ands or buts about it, it is wrong. I spend a lot of time writing the dialogue contained on this site and putting up interesting things for people to enjoy, and I don't see why you should be able to derail any of my work, apart from the removal of something you own the copyright to. You don't own my text or the thoughts contained therein, so leave those the hell alone!
Okay, the extremely angry and somewhat juvenile rant is now over. Enjoy some MP3s. Some MP3s more random than others!

UPDATE: I don't think the post being removed necessarily had anything to do with Michael Jackson, but rather Nirvana. For whatever reason, the Michael Jackson tracks weren't removed from MediaFire, at least not in their entirety, but the Nirvana post was and twice. Can anyone give me some advice about things of this sort? I would like to know if there is some sort of retaliation I can take towards these actions, other than bitching, whining and kvetching like someone on Parking Wars. HELP?

Michael Jackson Dead Of Heart Attack At Age 50 - Last Photo
Pop star Michael Jackson has died. He was 50 years old.The singer was found unresponsive at his home in California Thursday afternoon. He was rushed to the UCLA medical center but could not be revived. A Los Angeles Fire Department source told reporters that Jackson was in full cardiac arrest when rescue units arrived on scene.
Aides told a doctor that Jackson collapsed after receiving a shot of the drug Demerol. His breathing grew weaker and weaker and suffered a heart attack. Police have opened an investigation into the arrest but stress they do not suspect criminal activity.
His mother, sister Janet Jackson, and other family members rushed to the hospital. This sad news comes the same day we learn that actress Farrah Fawcett has passed away.

Michael was best known for his signature moon walk, thriller video and album, the smash hit song Billy Jean, massive plastic surgery, and his encounters with law enforcement for suspected child molestation at his now famous Neverland Ranch.
Jackson was planning to appear in a sold-out series of concerts in London next month that would have run until March. Promoters of the concerts had recently said that the singer had passed a physical examination to remove any concerns about his health.
Michael is survived by his three younger children, Prince Michael Jackson, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, and Prince Michael Jackson II.
