My Bloody Valentine - goodies

And here are the rest of the MBV goodies for your listening pleasure! The first seventeen tracks are CD length if you wanna burn it for your car or whatever, but in the xtra goodies folder are three more tracks that wouldn't fit. Enjoy!

My Bloody Valentine - goodies

01 Instrumental 2
02 Instrumental 1

The first ten tracks of this collection match the track listing for the third disc of an unreleased MBV box set. These first two tracks are from the bonus single included with the original release of Isn't Anything, albeit in reverse order.

03 Cowboy Song
04 Good For You

These two are certified, unreleased MBV recordings. There isn't really any confirmed data about them other than that.

05 Sugar
A leftover from Loveless, this b-side for Only Shallow was only released on a rare flexidisc and promo CD.

06 Kevin Song
07 Bilinda Song

Two more certified, unreleased MBV recordings.

08 Glider (Kevin Shields Remix)
This is the long version of Glider from the Glider Remixes 12".

09 We Have All The Time In The World
MBV's only release on Island Records, this track was contributed to the Peace Together compilation.

10 Map Ref 41°N 93°W
Taken from the Wire tribute album, Whore. Awesome!

11 Archive - Londinium (Kevin Shields Mix)
12 The Frank & Walters - Take Me Through This Life (Remixed by Kevin Shields)
13 Placebo - Pure Morning (MBV Remix)

I didn't include these remixes in my last post because I don't have original or lossless copies of them. The Archive remix seems near impossible to find. The Placebo remix is frickin' awesome!

14 My Bloody Valentine meets Skylab - Incidental Peace
From Offbeat, a Red Hot compilation.

15 Soon (The Andrew Weatherall Mix)
This appears as the a-side of the Glider Remixes 12". This sounds a little dated compared to other MBV recordings, but this mix is still awesome!

16 2 (excerpt)
Kevin contributed this to a La La La Human Steps performance. This excerpt was ripped from a DVD.

17 You Don't Need Darkness To Do What You Think Is Right Outro
As the title says, this is Kevin's outro track for the compilation You Don't Need Darkness To Do What You Think Is Right.

xtra goodies:

2 (Live Bootleg)
This is a longer copy of 2 and features it's proper ending, although the quality is pretty murky.

Bow Wow Wow - I Want Candy (Kevin Shields Remix)
Unlike Kevin's remix of Fools Rush In, there isn't much added to this version. Strictly for completists.

Mark Eitzel meets My Bloody Valentine - Incidental One
Also from the Offbeat compilation, Mark Eitzel's contribution seems to be some spoken dialogue on what sounds like a handheld tape recorder.

My Bloody Valentine - Loom: Live In Vancouver 1992

This is an incredibly clear recording of MBV live in 1992, touring for Loveless. While the whole thing is great, the high point is the seventeen minute finale of You Made Me Realise, where the band goes into one of their legendary noise freak-outs and scares the crowd shitless. You should read Mike McGonigal's excellent contribution to the 33 1/3 series which is all about Loveless and features lots of interviews with Kevin, everyone else in the band, Guy Fixsen, other interesting folks from the Valentine's circle and a stripper who danced to Sometimes. Seriously. It's an awesome book and it talks about the mind altering experience that You Made Me Realise is live. This recording probably doesn't do it justice, but it's a great example of how unique Kevin Shields and My Bloody Valentine are live.

Tune in tomorrow for post number three, the contents of which should keep everyone entertained for the weekend!

My Bloody Valentine - Loom

01 When You Sleep
02 I Only Said
03 Only Shallow
04 Slow
05 Nothing Much To Lose
06 Noise

This isn't a song, but it's not really noise either. Who knows what the band was doing but there is a lot of feedback and keyboards.
07 You Never Should
08 Feed Me With Your Kiss
09 Soon
10 To Here Knows When
11 Honey Power
12 You Made Me Realise

My Bloody Valentine - Remixes

How I adore Kevin Shields and My Bloody Valentine! I know I'm not the only one who worships at the altar of Loveless so I'll keep my unabashed fanboy nature to a minimum here.

I've pretty much accepted that there will probably never be another new My Bloody Valentine album, at least not in Kevin's lifetime, although there may be a Kevin solo album which would probably be nearly the same thing. That said, Kevin has stayed quite busy since Loveless even if the majority of his output since then has been limited to remixes and covers. There were supposed to be reissues of Isn't Anything and Loveless in the last few years, versions which are supposedly done and ready to be pressed, but Kevin wouldn't turn in the finished liner notes and/or give final approval. I'm assuming that money must be a factor, and I hope he gets his green in the end, but that also means there probably won't be anything new in the MBV kingdom for quite a while.

None of this is really a bad thing for Kevin and company. It keeps the mythical status of new MBV intact and Loveless will continue to amaze as long as there are people to listen to it. For the true fans though, Kevin's other releases have become harder to find than ever before. Remixes for soundtracks and singles, some never released outside of the artists' native countries, some in impossibly small pressings, it's downright ridiculous to search for original copies! But I have been collecting these trinkets for quite a while as have other dedicated (read: obsessed. Yeah, I am definitely obsessed!) fans and, over the next few days, I will share quite a few with all of you. For starters, remixes!

The following collection should by no means be viewed as complete. These tracks were selected from CDs and lossless rips I own of these releases so they would be of the best quality possible. There are some rarer tracks I have that are not nearly the same quality as these but are just as important, and those will be posted within the next few days. For today though, this is a nice overview of Kevin's production duties with other groups since the end of the Loveless era. Most of these mixes are rather incredible too, especially the ones for God, Hurricane #1 and Primal Scream. So I hope you enjoy these gems and make sure you check back over the next few days for more MBV related goodies!
