On The Horizon: Razvrat i Pokvara, F.A.Y.D.

I gotta admit that when it comes to punk, ska or hardcore music I'm rather picky. I do choose carefully what to listen and which concerts to attend. It's very rare for me to stumble upon a good band by chance and yet it happens. The two bands I'm gonna write about are two such bands which I was thinkin' to present in my blog for quite some time now. They're part of the new generation of punk and hardcore bands that struggle to made a name for themselves. Will they succeed to gain the respect of the local underground scene only time will tell. Hopefully they'll last long enough to leave a lasting impression on the kids that go to concerts nowadays. Will they contribute and how to the local punk/hardcore scene remains to be seen but one thing is sure - these kids have enough enthusiasm and guts to make good music.

Разврат И Поквара (Razvrat i Pokvara)
Разврат И Поквара (literally Lechery and Depravity) is one of two new bands that caught my attention during the past one year. Разврат И Поквара, best known for it's female vocalist Izzy (ex-Kriza) and Jitsata (who is well-known punk around here) is a street-punk band from Sofia, Bulgaria that exists for around two years. The band itself is at least in my mind the ideological continuation of Kriza although the latter project seems more ambitious and may very well lasts longer than the previous one. Their sound can be described as a raw and angry punk which combined with Izzy's
heartfelt vocals makes for a really awesome experience if watched live. So far the band self-released only one EP titled "Задънената улица" (The Deadlock) consisting of eight original songs plus a cover of T.V.U's "Кои Cме Ние?" (Who We Are?). I gotta admit that the EP itself is quite good giving the fact that the band is relatively new and doesn't have played much. One song in particular which grabbed my attention and is probably my favorite from that EP is "Трън В Очите" (Thorn In The Eyes), with lyrics full of anguish and angst. Add to that some real gritty guitar sound and you got one damn good punk song. The overall tone of the EP is rather dark with lyrics of hopelessness and yet it got a really vibrant feel about it. As of now they're still recording their long-awaited split with F.A.Y.D. which has no release date yet and when it's done hopefully those two bands will do a concert together. Definitely a band to look for in the future.

F.A.Y.D.
F.A.Y.D. or Forget About Your Dreams officially exists since the fall of 2009. This six-piece hardcore-punk band landed a spot in my blog mainly due to their powerful live acts which are sure to attract many when they happen. So far the band got two demos (2009 and 2010) the latter I've already heard and gotta admit that their Demo2010 is damn good. Raw old-school hardcore with clever lyrics is the first thing that comes in mind after listening to it. Lyrics-wise F.A.Y.D. speak of the lies we're fed with by the medias, the lack of respect between people which often leads to violence, the false bravery that some people show on the street or simply the lack to change the way we all live. This band might be young but their music is thoughtful. Definitely worth seeing live.
