Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing. No this ain't your favorite teen flick to which you screamed, felt in love countless times and secretly envied Jennifer Grey for dancing with the love of your life Patrick Swayze or vice-versa. This is one neat indie band consisting of Eric Schoen and Lauren Mikus, both of them with considerable musical experience before getting together as a band. To me they sound like a weird combination of The Kills and Joy Division with a little bit of The Jesus & Mary Chain. Mood swings violently in their music as darker tones meet with a more mellow sounds crashing into some upbeat noises accompanied by filthy, sexy guitars. No matter how odd you might find this combination, believe me it sounds really good (depending on your mood of course). So far they got one album, the self-released "Mediocrity Is The Strongest Inevitability". Dirty Dancing's brand of indie, noisy rock is sure to attract new followers to this type of music. This is one of those indie findings that begs to be heard.
